Wild cannabis plants look different from the lush, cultivated ones. They’re usually shorter, bushier, and have thinner leaves. The scent is faint compared to modern hybrid strains. Look for jagged-edged leaves with a distinctive five- to seven-finger shape.
Wild plants often grow in clusters along roadsides, ditches, or open fields — anywhere with good sunlight and drainage. While they may not produce high-THC buds, they’re valuable for understanding cannabis evolution and for use in breeding hardy new strains.
