Wild cannabis, often called “ditch weed,” grows naturally without human cultivation. It can be found in parts of Central Asia, where the plant originated thousands of years ago, especially in regions like Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, and northern India.
In the United States, wild cannabis plants still grow in the Midwest, especially in Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri, left over from old hemp farms. These wild plants are hardy and adaptable, thriving in open fields, roadsides, and riverbanks. Though not as potent as cultivated strains, wild cannabis shows the plant’s natural resilience and ancient roots.
